Here is a little teaser we've put together to whet your appetite, so dive in and get a taste of Sunrise 2011.
Sunrise is ditto’s online film festival, aimed at fostering new talent and giving emerging film-makers that all-important exposure. Formed in 2009 it’s now the UK’s largest independent film festival. Since its beginning, the festival has been collaborating with Norwich University College of the Arts, championing the work of its newest graduates.
In 2009 the selected entrants all screened as part of BAFTA’s Film & Music arena at the world renowned Latitude festival.
For 2010 we hosted the festival at our studios in London. The competition garnered over 8,000 public votes and the winner, Rory McVicar, has gone on to find success in the film industry.
And last year ditto launched Sunrise 2011 with a special screening at The Curve Cinema in Norwich. The event also featured guest speakers Don Boyd, the celebrated film-maker, and award-winning animator Steve Smith. The Sunrise festival garnered a huge 84,000 votes in 2011 – a tremendous achievement, with awards presented to Julie Garrod for the public choice for her animation Bob, and Roscoe Gibson-Denney winning the critics choice for his short film Rroma.
During the course of our partnership with NUCA ditto has represented the industry on the BBCs Producers Panel helping the students produce internet TV projects, we provide internships at our studio and give students their first professional commissioned work.
